Callaly, a manufacturer of innovative new femcare products, has announced the hiring of two new lean manufacturing specialists.

Akeel Khan and Shaun Knights, who both previously worked at Philips Avent, will take on the roles of engineering manager and head of quality, respectively. Khan spent seven years at Philips Avent where he joined as a process engineer and was promoted to a senior process engineer, a title which he held when leaving Philips last year. He will be responsible for devising the future engineering and manufacturing strategy at Callaly, with focus on the introduction of automation and new technology to deliver high quality products, in a lean manufacturing facility.

Knights, also from Philips Avent, previously worked at Siemens for almost 10 years, where he held positions of head of quality and head of business excellence. He is a British Quality Foundation certified Lean 6 Sigma Master Black Belt and EFQM assessor, having assessed for both the U.K. and European EFQM awards programs. Knights will be responsible for developing and managing all aspects of quality, including quality systems, quality assurance and supplier quality.

Both Khan and Knights bring with them a wealth of industry knowledge that is essential to the manufacturing of Callaly’s product including the Tampliner invention which is collectively designed by a senior gynecologist and a garment technician. Their inclusion will ensure that the highest standards of quality are met in the production of Tampliner as its produced in a medical device standard (FDA registered facility) manufacturing facility ensuring a delivery of period product that those with periods can truly trust.
